Songdog is a slang name for a coyote.
The name, Songdog, comes from the 'howling at the moon' action of coyotes.
This is usually a community event in a coyote pack as it is when humans
get together for their own version of 'howling at the moon'.
Coyotes are a member of the dog (canine) family
and are native to North America. Their range covers most of the continent.
It stretches from New England in the East to Alaska in the West and
Southward through most of Mexico and Central America.
Songdogs are very smart and are able to adapt
to their changing environment. While they prefer their native rural
habitat, they can be found in suburban settings and have been spotted
in urban locations such as Central Park in New York City.
